As the name suggests, flamenco dresses are used to dance flamenco, a gypsy dance born in Seville – watching a flamenco performance is a must while in the city! Aside from performers, locals will wear these dresses at traditional festivals such as the Feria de Abril. History of Dress
The eye catching dress is actually called the ‘traje de gitana’ and has its routes in the gypsy communities of Seville. In the middle of the 1800s many livestock fairs had developed in the city, and the wives of many gypsy farmers began attending the events in handmade dresses. They were made from simple fabric which the women found lying around their houses, and so to disguise from their poverty they were adorned with ruffles and thrills. By the time the Ibero-American Exhibition came around in 1929, these beautiful dresses had made their way into the vogue of high society. Once attendees at the exhibition were seen wearing the traje de gitana its place as the festival dress of Seville was cemented.
The Neighbourhoods
There are a couple of different shopping areas to check out when looking for flamenco dresses in Seville. It depends on what you want. The area around Calle Feria is filled with vintage shops and hipster outlets. This is a good place to go for a more modern dress. The main shopping area in the city, however, centres around Calle Tetuan and Calle Sierpes. This is a great place to come for clothes shopping in general and has several high-end boutiques selling stunning flamenco dresses. A little above Calle Sierpes, on the way toward the Alfalfa neighbourhood is where most of the best ones can be found. I can help you with the costume rent and photo shoot. It will be fun! 🙂 I am not sure about hair and makeup but we can find a hair dresser for sure. Can you let me know your exact dates and I check with the flamenco artist and the photographer please. A personal shopping/consulting costs about 100 euros, the rental can be anything between 80 and 300 euros depending on what you rent and which accessories and the photographer for a 1 hour session and 25 edited photos is 180 euros.

I think the best would be to have a flamenco dancer with you to guide you with the type of dress and even different places where you can try dresses and then later in the day the photoshoot in a nice location with an amazing background and beautiful light. It can be any time of the year. However, sometimes in August many shops are closed and many people are on vacation. So better, to do it in another month. If that sounds good to you, we can have a 2 hour tour to find the right dress and accessories for you and then an hour photo shoot.
The price for the shopping tour would be 129 euros and for the photo shoot 189 euros with 20 edited photos and option to order more photos upon payment. The dress can cost differently and you can choose and pay that on the day. It can be anything between 60 to 100+ euros.
To book, we will need to set the date and time and I will send you a payment link (+4.5% cc fee).

That is a great idea! 🙂 I can arrange a photo session for you with 2 flamenco dresses and accessories approx for 1 hour. It will be with a flamenco dancer and a photographer. It cost 320 euros. These dates are very busy and we need to see the availability. Also, I would need your size too please to see if that size is available. Please note shoes and earrings will not be provided. Having some photos of you beforehand would be helpful too.
For more sizes of flamenco dresses, we can go to a flamenco shop and in this case, the supplement is 100 euros.
Another great idea would be to combine this with a flamenco workshop. You will be able to get some UNIQUE shots in action too. 🙂 This costs 100 euros.
