Vibrant neighbourhoods and gastronomy. What more could you want? We have combined two of our favourites to bring you the true essence of Granada. This fun and tasty tour takes you from the Arab Quarter down to the Old Town while enjoying local flavours.
The meeting point is Plaza Nueva, “The New Square” yet, ironically the oldest square in the city. From here enter into the maze of the Albaicin, the “Arab Quarter”. Be transported back in time as we meander its streets and wind through the “calle de las teterías”. Witness how the influence of this period has enriched present-day life, architecture and of course, food. Try your first tapas, a dish inspired by these times.
Then it’s on to join the bustle of the central marketplace and its juicy looking produce (limited opening hours) Soak up the local ambience as you enjoy some of our favourite drinks and tapas, a must is the local jamon asado (roasted ham). At each of the tapas bars, you will have a drink and a choice of one plate to share – which means that if you are in a group with a few people, you will get to try a dozen different dishes!
Next, wiggle between the city’s monuments, discover where the crypts of Queen Isabella and Ferdinand are hidden and learn about the other side of the city. We will enter the heart of Granada’s buzzing social scene to find a lively tavern to end. Of course, it’s also time for your first pionono, the typical dessert, born in Granada with its own unique story. Join us to find out more, and see why it’s the locals’ choice!

We did 2 tours in Granada. The first was a sunset tour with viewpoints and the second was the tapas tour in Granada and we loved the idea of dining with tapas. It is so much fun, easy going and varied. We went to 3 different taverns which we would have missed without our guide, Miguel and where every drink comes with a tapa. Miguel even took us back to our hotel as we were not able to find our way even with the help of GPS.

I am vegetarian and have a hard time finding food in Spain but this tour was a great way for me to find out about all the vegetarian options one has here. I do eat fish and that made it much easier. We tried Moroccan style food, 2 types of cheese, a vegetarian stew and our guide wrote down about 4 vegetarian restaurants in Granada for me to check later. It was life saving.

I don’t like guided tours much but this tapas tour was an amazing way to make friends and enjoy the Spanish cuisine. We always wanted to try the Spanish ham and Miguel made sure we knew how to choose the right Iberian ham or Jamon. We had to pay extra for that but it was already mentioned when we booked it. He also ordered us a local drink called summer wine or Tinto which is what locals drink instead of Sangria. Now we know the difference between the locals and the tourist- the tourists order Sangria!

We went to places in Granada we wouldn’t have found without a guide. We were asked about our preferences for food and wine. Food and drink were plentiful and good quality.

A very relaxed and informative tour with a very friendly guide. Miguel is a boat capitan and also runs tours and knows Granada very well. We went to a few off the beaten path tapas bars and tried different tapas that I had never known of. Very recommendable especially at the beginning of your stay.

We signed up for a group tour and found ourselves in a private tour only for us. The guide was passionate and very fun and we learnt a lot not only about food and tapas but also wine, Spanish sherry and the history of Granada. It was a great tour in nice company.

We booked 2 food tours with Not Just a Tourist and they were all very different. The market tour covered the old town of the part with 4 stops at 4 different places to sample local products. It was very relaxed and just nice to see the locals go about their daily lives. We had delicious ham, old cheese, typical dry bread from the area, chorizo, olives, local beer and a tasty sweet from the Arab times. Our guide explained the origin of each food so that it was a nice tour on history and cuisine. Our tapas tour was a great addition since it included a lot of warm tapas too and took us to the old Muslim neighborhood with a little bit of hike up the hill. We tried 4 different tapas, beer, wine and sherry and enjoyed it very much!

Juan was spectacular! He showed us a number of great tapas dishes and shared knowledge of the local culture. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Granada which is the capital of tapas.

It is a great idea to start a trip in Granada with a tapas tour as it takes you around the old town and Albaycin, which was the old Muslim quarter with beautiful architecture and views over the mountains. We tried 4 different tapas all accompanied by a drink. We did not know that beer was such a big thing in Spain and learned a lot about the Alhambra beer. We ended up in a charming traditional Tea House which was according to our guide an influence of the Arab times. The sweets were very delicious.

Had a wonderful walk and tapas tour with Theresa last week. Informative, friendly and aware of when to stop and enjoy some food and when to keep walking. A feast of knowledge of the streets and bars of Granada. Thanks.

Thanks a lot Jonathan for your nice feedback. We are more than happy that you enjoyed your Granada market tour with us and could have a taste of Spain. Much more to explore.

Pedro was very polite and attentive and made sure that our kids were also entertained and engaged. He told us a lot of stories about Alhambra which is a beautiful palace while ordering different tapas. The portions were quite big and we could not even finish them off. The traditional sweet Piñoñion was really tasty. We had the feeling we were with a friend and not with a tour guide.Thank you so much for the nice evening!
