More information
Granada is one of the most unique cities in Spain, not only for what lies within, but what surrounds it. The Sierra Nevada is Spain’s highest mountain range and hides some of the most breathtaking and well-managed hiking trails, providing the perfect spot for a day trip.
After a comfortable ride from the city center we will reach the village of Monachil, a tranquil town and the perfect place to unleash the intrepid explorers you’ve been hiding within. We’ve seen many adults and children dig deep to find them! This is the perfect route for family fun and a little adventure.
Here we begin our journey through Las Cahorros and into the peaks of Andalusia. First, meander downhill, through farms and olive groves, between lush vegetation – all against a backdrop of jagged rock. See if you can spot any wayward rock climbers scaling its face!
Keep on your toes, this route is not for the faint hearted. Here, many daring travelers have met their match. Together we will swing across the wooden hanging bridges (not suitable for those with vertigo), the only way to cross the valley’s drop. Inside the gorge who knows what lurks. Scuttle, crawl and jump to find your way out, stay close to your expert guide!
Don’t worry, there are plenty of moments to pause. Inhale the crisp air, take in the peaceful scenes and truly unwind. Make sure you have your camera ready as the mountains are never shy to offer their best angle for some amazing shots.
As we follow the stream of the fresh crystal waters, don’t let the luring glisten tempt you in for a dip. The waters can be icy! And then, you have made it. Return to the city, tired and rejuvenated.

We wanted to do something nice outside of the city and we were suggested several tours with activities. We decided to book the SierraNevada tour and it was an amazing day out in nature. We passed by a few picturesque villages where we had enough time to walk and take some excellent photos and then had a nice hike to a spring and back. Our guide was Pedro and he chose a nice restaurant for us with amazing meat options. A truly beautiful day!

We hired Not Just a Tourist for a couple of tours and they were all great. We had Miguel on all our tours and he was a very helpful and friendly guy with a lot of stories to tell. We first did a walking tour of Granada passing by Albaycin area which has some amazing view points. Then, we went to Ronda which is an excellent place to visit with an amazing old town and an old bridge. Lastly we decided to explore the Sierranevada and had a beautiful half a day out in nature. The hike was very easy and took us a total of 2 hours. We could visit a very nice canyon and pass by a hanging bridge and for lunch we tried the special ham (jamón) from the region. A brilliant tour!

Jose picked us up at our hotel and we headed to a nice mountain town called Monachil. We had a beautiful hike along a river and passed a nice hanging bridge and then drove to a nice local restaurant. It is a great way to enjoy nature and yet be close to all the wonderful sites in Granada. On return Jose dropped us in Sacramonte after we finished the tour and gave us tips on where to go. It was a very relaxed day and perfect even on a hot summer day.

It is an amazing tour right outside of Granada. Everything was arranged well and our guide was very flexible. We are vegetarian and were worried that it would be hard to find vegetarian food outside of the city but he managed to order some amazing options for us. The cheese was delicious. The views were beautiful and hard to imagine that such a mountain range is just so insanely close to Granada. If you like nature and history this tour is perfect for you!

This is the perfect getaway from Granada. It just took us about 5 hours in total. We started with a nice breakfast and then hiked for about 2hours in a beautiful area called Monachil. There is a nice hanging bridge, the sound of water is so relaxing and there is a lo of shade too for hot summer days.
